my Portfolio
A selection of academic and professional projects, each reflecting a different skill I've built along the way.
The Ontario Tower Buzzers
For my senior capstone project, I had the incredible opportunity to work on the account team for the Ontario Tower Buzzers, a brand-new Minor League Baseball team based in Ontario, California. Over the course of the semester at CSUF, my team developed an integrated strategic communications plan to market the team to community audiences in the weeks leading up to opening day.
As advertising coordinator, I worked with our account executive to identify a target demographic and brainstorm ways to connect with them, revising that research throughout the campaign to meet the team's changing needs.
This project gave me firsthand experience working with a real client in an agency setting, and the chance to be part of a brand-new sports team's launch. I learned that I genuinely enjoy the research and strategy side of communications — and that I still have a lot to learn.
I've included both the slide deck for our proposal and the detailed campaign proposal we created over the course of the project. In putting together the written proposal, I was responsible for formatting the final document, which gave me experience managing tight deadlines across multiple authors.
Estas Beauty
For this case study, our group was assigned the cosmetics brand Estas Beauty and tasked with developing a celebrity endorsement strategy for the brand's line of scar care products. This proved challenging, as we quickly discovered that most potential celebrity partners already had existing brand deals or product lines of their own.
So we decided to do something different: pivot Estas' scar care products toward a new male audience and reposition the line as a recovery product rather than a beauty one. This shift opened up new endorsement prospects with figures like Miles Teller, Jason Bateman, and Tony Hawk.
I focused on the strategy and messaging behind our campaign, making sure that once we'd selected our endorsements, their messaging would genuinely resonate with our target audience. Over the course of this project, I learned how important it is to stay curious and open-minded, and I got to explore an industry I otherwise pay little attention to.
Celsius Pitch Deck and Brief
In this project, I served as project leader, overseeing research, strategy, and the development of creative concepts. Together, we developed a campaign concept to pivot an energy drink away from its traditional market and expand into a new one.
This was my first time writing a long-form creative brief, which my group later used as the foundation for our project. As the "account executive," I balanced deadlines with academic commitments and learned the importance of delegating tasks I struggle with, like graphic design, to teammates better suited for them.
Throughout the case study, I was responsible for keeping brainstorming sessions on-brand and ensuring our key message stayed aligned with what we'd proposed. I learned the importance of both delegating to and following up with teammates, as well as the value of really getting to know a client or brand before starting work.
How to Build a Bench…Sorta
I wrote, shot, and edited this video as a project for COMM 317: Digital Foundations at CSUF. Students were assigned to create a video on a subject of their choosing, either speaking about or demonstrating knowledge of it.
I chose carpentry because it's something I grew up around, and because it felt less complex than my interest in auto repair and less production-heavy than a video on photography. I spent one day writing the script and gathering materials, two days shooting, and one more long day editing — completing the project in four days from start to finish.
Along the way, I gained hands-on experience with Adobe Premiere and learned that I'm far more comfortable behind the camera than in front of it. I also learned that any task requiring you to explain what's happening will take longer than expected, so it's worth building that extra time into your production schedule.
One note: this isn't a DIY video — it's a look at my process in making something.
Exploration of Bernie Madoff’s Ponzi scheme - Writing Sample
As part of my coursework, I took an elective course in Business Ethics. Over the course of the class, we were each assigned to write a term paper on a topic of our choosing within the field. As a communications student, I chose to focus mine on Bernie Madoff's infamous Ponzi scheme.
While researching and writing this paper, I explored the broader history of Ponzi schemes, as well as the human factors and systemic communication breakdowns that allowed Madoff's scheme to grow undetected for as long as it did. The project gave me a chance to apply a communications lens to a topic usually examined through a purely financial or legal one, looking closely at how trust, messaging, and institutional oversight can fail in tandem.
COMM 317: Digital Foundations
This interactive PDF is my final project for COMM 317: Digital Foundations, Spring 2025.
Over the course of the semester, I was introduced to new programs like Illustrator and InDesign — and learned them the best way I know how: by diving in and doing the work. Each project pushed me to figure things out hands-on, gaining firsthand experience with designing and laying out real projects rather than just studying the tools from a distance.
This interactive PDF brings together all four projects I produced in the Adobe suite, along with a brief reflection on what I learned while making each one.
